new finds for the house!

A plus to going back to work is that I get to mooch around the shops at lunch time. And it's end of sale time - my favourite time as there are plenty of bargains to be had! Selfridges slash the prices. I saw a designer dress which was originally £600 (gulp) but it was reduced to a mere £40 - that's as cheap as New Look! BUT I am not in the market for designer dresses (however cheap and gorgeous). What I am looking for are bits and pieces for our rather sparse fairy cottage.

And look what I found. In the homeware department, which is usually a case of admire, swoon, but don't even think about looking at the price tag, I found a pile of cushions by The Designers Guild. I am not usually drawn to their designs but these instantly caught my eye. 60% off! I chose two similar designs embroidered on cream silk with a soft pink backing. They are lovely and puffy too, perfect for lounging on.

On route to Sainsburys I popped into my favourite charity shop and came across these gems. I love soft green and this tea set is so pretty. The whole set was only £7.

I also bought these two garden wall pots. I dithered about whether to get them or not but am so glad I did. Our outside walls are white and these will look really striking with bright hanging flowers. Bring on the summer!

My final find, I have my mum to thank. Knowing my obsession with Russian Dolls (seriously, how many sets can one girl own?), she picked these up for 50p at a local church bring and buy. Thanks mum. They are sitting happily high on my window pane.

WOW! I've taken a fancy to all of these finds. The garden wall pots remind me of a villa in the Med (not one in particular but I'd like to be transported there right now!).
I used to have a Russian Doll set as a child - I'm sure it must still be around somewhere so must hunt it out.

Oh part of the fun of moving into a new house is finding little treasures to decorate it with. I love Designers Guild and those cushions are beautiful. And I really really want some Russian dolls at the moment... preferably ones I've bought myself in Russia *sigh*

Hi Liz!
Yes much more ideal to buy them in Russia rather than a North London church fete!! Seems we are all itching for foreign climes!

Great bargains. I particularly love the cushions and the tea service. There is something so lovely about getting the odd cup of tea that you can savour in peace from a cup and saucer.

The tea set is just gorgeous. I love when every guest gets a different design - I have been at a wedding recently where they did this, it looked absolutely fabulous.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I absolutely agree with you, the girls are the least to blame.

Hi Met mum: I am so pleased you agree with my comment - not that you agree, but that you appreciate my comment. Its such a good argument to bring up and one that will continue to rage on...I really don't see it changing anytime soon, such a shame. I was so worried my comment would offend peoples opinions - I am not one to be contraversial! I have been worried since posting it!

So glad everyone loves the tea set..can you believe it was only £7 - charity shops are a haven!
